Greetings. At The Heritage School we have always believed in supporting and encouraging a worthy cause, especially if we can support the arts at the same time.
CAPED – Cancer Awareness, prevention and Early Detection is working towards creating awareness of women centric cancers and their specific area of interest currently is Cervical Cancer. Cervical Cancer is the largest killer within women’s cancers in India, and India also has the unwanted distinction of being the country with the largest incidence of Cervical cancer deaths. Preventive health care is a largely neglected area in India and creating awareness in this field is an ambitious goal as the ambiguity of the task makes it difficult to measure and account for.
Over the last two years, CAPED reached out to 10,000 women, and felt that they are not even scratching the surface. So this year, they are upping the ante, and are aiming to reach out to at least 100,000 women, and also aiming to screen 1000+ women with the hope that even if we save a few lives, it is worth it in the end. Their efforts will be focused in slums as well as in bigger towns. They have also recently released a video (https://youtu.be/XDoL6L-ujV0) through which they are trying to create a more mass outreach.
CAPED has planned a fundraiser, an entertaining musical production “I have a Dream”. It is based on songs by ABBA and directed by Ritu Chandra that will be shown at Apparel House, Sector 44, Behind Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon on the 7th, 8th and 9th of April.
